Teaser Tuesday #3

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading
and slightly altered by Coffee, Books & Lipgloss

Basically a CBL TEASER TUESDAY works like this
  • Grab your current read
  • Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!
  • As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not. That's optional.
  • Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

TEASER

"Who else knows you talk?" I ask, and not just to keep her talking, but because I really do want to know. Does Dres know and he hasn't told me? Does she talk to her family? Drew said she lived with an aunt - actually he said a hot aunt - but that's all I really know."

"No one."

"Did you ever talk? Before now?"

"Yes."

"Are you going to tell me why you've taken this vow of silence?"

"No." she says, looking right into my eyes. Neither of us will break eye contact. "And you're never going to ask. Ever."

I know at that moment what he's given me and it's not a chair. It's an invitation, a welcome, the knowledge that I am accepted here. He hasn't given me a place to sit. He's given me a place to belong.

My Opinion So Far

I first started reading this December 4th but I had to change books to keep up with my To Review List. Now that I have enough time I decided to pick this up again. A lot of people have been raving about this book (especially my friends) so I'm extra eager to find out why they love it so much. Boy this book is long! And so far... I'm having trouble getting into the book. I'm currently at 41% (says my Kindle app) and I think the story's just beginning to get interesting. For me. I hope I'll be able to finish it today! More than that, I hope I'll like it as much.

  1. I love the second one, about the chair. :) It's one of my highlighted lines in the book.

  2. Great teaser choice and AMAZING book! One of my top 12 faves I read last year. Hang in there. I thought the same thing, the beginning moves a bit slow but the more they interact the better the book becomes and starts to engage you. Enjoy Josh and Nat.

  3. Good choice in TT book Isabel. I read this some time ago... and I'm not sure if it was just because of my frame of mind or what... but I struggled with it.

It has redeeming qualities, I will add, and of course the reviews and ratings are like a yoyo... but I've heard from many of those who's reviews I follow (ie. Tammy and others) that they loved it to bits! So I guess maybe I should re-read it sometime, perhaps my opinion will be altered.

I'm interested to know what you thought about it, so I'll definitely keep an eye out for your review :)

    Happy Tuesday!

    1. I'm thinking the same thing too. Maybe I'm just not... in the mood? I don't know. I hope I'll like it as much as they did and I hope you'll get the time to re-read it, Laurynne! Thanks for dropping by. ;)

  4. Great teasers! I have this one on my Kindle and I'm eager to read it because I've heard such good things about it. It sucks that you haven't really gotten into the story til now but hopefully it's still a good read.
