15 Day Book Blogger Challenge (Day 2)

I am back with day 2 of the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge! Last time I shared 15 book related confessions and this time it's all about my bedtime reading ritual.

DAY 2: What's your bedtime reading ritual?

I usually get a lot of reading done at night before sleeping but I wouldn't really call it a 'ritual' because I go about it differently each time. One thing that's constant though is that I always have to read before sleeping. It doesn't matter if I only get a couple of pages in a chapter, I just need to read before sleeping. I usually read from my ereader when I'm in bed. I have the tendency to fall asleep while reading and that can be a problem for my paperbacks. I have a huge bed and I move a lot in my sleep. I don't want to have to accidentally lie down on my book and fold the cover or anything so ereaders work best for me. I've never rolled over my ereader for some reason so that's good. There have been a couple of instances though where I was dozing off while reading and I was holding my ereader above my head and... you get the point. Swollen lip. Lesson learned.

I don't really have bedtime books because I simply continue what I've been reading the whole day. If it's really good, I can stay up (assuming I'm not too tired) until the wee hours of the morning to finish it... or until my ereader's drained (both happened when I read this book!). However if the book isn't engaging, I'd probably just read a few pages or a couple of chapters. After that I'd check my email, Twitter and Goodreads before setting my alarm and going to sleep.

Do you have a bedtime reading ritual? What kind of books do you read before sleeping? Share YOUR ritual in the comments below! Or you could join the challenge and link your own post here. ;)

  1. I tend to use my ereader for bedtime reading too! I guess it's because I shift around trying to get comfy while I'm reading and with a paperback, I have to constantly try to get enough light to read by. With my ereader, I don't have to worry about that. :P
