Best Books of 2013 (and then some)

I thought I wouldn't be able to post a year end blog entry because of all the festivities (December in the Philippines is crazy) but luckily I have time to make one now! Hurray! Here are the best books I read this year!

I can't believe I almost gave up on The Sea of Tranquility. The first few chapters were kind of boring but when the story picked up, HELLZ YEAH! Katja Millay - you are amazing. I get goosebumps whenever I think of THAT ENDING. (Like right now)

After Forever Ends is the longest book I read this year. 500 plus pages long! I honestly wasn't expecting it to be that good because the synopsis pretty much said everything but guys, IT'S THAT GOOD. IT'S SUPER GOOD. IT'S I-UGLY-CRIED-TO-THIS-BOOK GOOD. Melodie Ramone is also one of the friendliest authors ever. Check her out!

Going Under is and always will be my favorite New Adult book. It's the book that made me fall in love with S.Walden's writing. It's not exactly the re-read type because of the heavy theme but I will keep recommending it to whoever wants to try out books from that age bracket. I want to introduce Ryan and the gamer's embrace to more girls. *wink wink* Oh and did you know? Ryan dropped by my blog on my birthday to sing me a song. Definitely one of my favorite blogging moments in 2013. Ha!

Simply put, Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase is FEELS OVERLOAD. Royalty? Check. Hot prince? Check. Seriously... what's not to love? It's the perfect fun and light New Adult read.

Splintered by A.G. Howard is a fantastically creepy retelling of the classic Alice in Wonderland. You'll just have to read the book to fully appreciate just how awesome the crazy twists are. You can't NOT fall in love with the book! You just can't! One other thing: MORPHEUS > JEB (Mehehehe)

The plot, the humor, the witty lines, the funny drawings - I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT! Winger was a pleasant surprise. I even love the quirky cover... even if the dude looks way older than the MC's actual age and he has blood coming out of his nose.

I can't believe I didn't read Cinder sooner. Cyborgs and androids in a Cinderella retelling could actually work. Who knew, right? Marissa Meyer's writing is superb. The story keeps getting more and more exciting with every chapter. It's one of those unputdownable books that you mustn't miss. You hear me? MUST. NOT. MISS.

Mina V. Esguerra's Interim Goddess of Love trilogy may be short but it sure packs a lot of awesomeness! I absolutely love this series. At first I was like, "Oh this is cute." But by book 3 I was all, "WHAT THE HECK! I WANT TO READ THIS AGAIN!!! OH CRAP, OH CRAP, OH CRAP!" Yep. It's a great series, folks.

It's actually between The Sun Dwellers (third book) and The Star Dwellers (second book) by David Estes but I had to go with the latter only because I cried. YEAH, I KNOW. It's sort of a shallow reason but whatever. I got all emotional that I even emailed David to tell him I love/hate him. I love the action, the character development, the romance, eeeeeven the unexpected twist towards the end. David Estes - one of my favorite YA dystopia authors.

FAN. GIRL. HEAVEN. If you're a boy band crazy like me, you should check out Nikki Godwin's American Girl on Saturn. It's pretty much what every fan girl dreams of. You know, getting stuck in a house with your favorite boy band. Oh and DATING ONE OF THEM?! GAHHHHHHHD.

I basically love this for three things: the title, Sam, Sam and Ally. Sam Cruz's Infallible Guide to Getting Girls is a lot like your MTV teen flicks. Okay, so it reminded me of Awkward so maybe I'm pretty biased but whatever! It's still a whole lot of fun. Plus, Sam is swoon-worthy in a totally non-douchebaggy way. Love. It.

And the book that made my December right: Crash Into You by Katie McGarry. Cars, Isaiah, and - let me say this one more time - THE FEELS. But really, you can't go wrong with a Katie McGarry book. Nope.

Here's the (and then some) part:

Books I haven't reviewed yet but are still one of the best

Fave indie books

My favorite books from Mina Esguerra's awesome #romanceclass authors

Events I attended:

Finished my Goodreads Challenge of reading 100 books in 2013!

And last but not the least - I BOUGHT A KINDLE PAPERWHITE! It's a big deal for me so I included it in my wrap up post. I named him/it (I prefer 'him') Braden after the book boyfriend in Emma Hart's The Love Game. We go on dates and stuff. Tee hee

Sooo that was my 2013. A lot of bad stuff happened but I can still say it was pretty darn good year. Here's to an even better 2014!
