Audiobook Adventures: 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works - A True Story

This is not a self-help book. Well, at least not entirely. Dan Harris basically shared the most practical and helpful advise he got from books and from people. He did not claim to be an expert who has reached enlightenment. He offered nothing new, merely repackaging old principles and practices and presenting them in a way that appeals to a lot of people who are newbies in the realm of self-help.... which is probably why I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
I found his inner monologues and struggles to be very familiar so it wasn't difficult for me to relate to him. I never thought of this as a hardcore self-help book but more like a memoir that can REALLY help you. He didn't exaggerate his transformation; in fact he made it clear that he still struggles every now and then. What's changed though is the added benefit of meditation and a shift in perspective.
So... if you're like me, unable to fully get on board with all the popular fluffy self-help books in the market, give this one a shot. Think of it as a prep kit. It won't intimidate you but it'll also encourage you to read more after.
P.S. he actually suggests additional reading material at the end which I think is pretty awesome.
P.P.S. I recently went to a secondhand bookstore and found a copy of A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle and bought it immediately. I was thoroughly prepped by Dan Harris. Bring it.
